Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. It is based on the Asian concept of life energy (chi) and is done by laying on of hands. A subtle energy flows from the hands of the practitioner into the client and it is this energy that creates the relaxation and healing effect. Reiki works in harmony with all other healing methods.
During a typical session, a client rests on a massage table fully clothed, as the practitioner moves her hands over the clients chakras. The practitioner hovers her hands or lightly touches the client. Reiki energy is transmitted through the hands of the practitioner to the client, working to balance the client’s chakras and move chi (life force energy).
A client may come for Reiki sessions for many reasons: reduction of stress, anxiety, grief, illness, aid in recovery from surgery, easing of pain, easing their transition through major life changes and spiritual development.
Reiki is an ancient healing art which encourages balance and harmony within the mind, body and spirit. It will penetrate beyond the obvious physical conditions and will treat the underlying causes of illness. Reiki energy can alleviate blockages in the natural energy flow and create an environment of healing.
At this time, reiki sessions are only being offered to existing therapy clients. No new clients are being taken on for reiki unless they are also coming for therapy sessions.
